Group Counseling is a personal and private interaction between the counselors and client. It is a process that allows the counselor to spend time focusing on stages of change, cognitive intervention techniques, as well as harm reduction. We start wherever the client wants to start and supports all forms of progress including abstinence, moderation, or using other forms of the harm reduction model. For individuals that dislike the group process that can assist them in finding their own path to recovery. Using a partnership model wherein the client is considered to be the expert on his or her life, the one to decide what is worth doing. Groups provide expertise in supporting successful change. Groups provoke questions and offers reflections to help the client reach clarity and decide what steps to take and how to receive the topic being discussed. I emphasize honoring values and making principle-based decisions, creating a clear plan of action, and using current strengths to reach future goals. Group is action oriented with an emphasis on improving present life and creating  progressive outcomes in life.
